Aí, moçada! Esse disco saiu ontem e eu pari uma bigorna incandescente para consegui-lo. Trata-se de demos, raridades e músicas não utilizadas na era dos Americans. Nem preciso dizer o quanto recomendo esse disco porque todo mundo sabe que meu maior ídolo é o Johnny Cash. Não vi o disco em nenhum outro blog então provavelmente somos os primeiros a disponibilizar.

São gravações recentes considerando a carreira do J.R. e músicas que não sairam em nenhum outro disco como a excelente “Redemption Song” do Bob Marley cantado por Johnny Cash com Joe Strummer. De arrepiar.

Não há muito que eu possa dizer sobre as últimas gravações do maior dentro todos homens que já viveram:  Johnny Cash. Lançado em fevereiro desse ano, esse disco conta com os últimos registros captados por Rick Rubin, fechando a série “American”.

Tenho esperado esse disco por anos.

“Em 1997 Cash foi diagnosticado com Síndrome de Shy-Drager, uma doença neuro-degenerativa – diagnóstico que mais tarde seria alterado para problemas no sistema nervoso associados à diabetes. Seu estado de saúde o forçou a encurtar uma turnê; ele foi hospitalizado em 1998 com grave pneumonia, que prejudicou seus pulmões. O álbum American III: Solitary Man, lançado em 2000, apresentava sua resposta à doença, representada por uma versão de “I Won’t Back Down” de Tom Petty assim como uma releitura poderosa de “One”, do U2.”

Tributo quase punk ao lendário e maior dentre todos humanos Johnny Cash. Como fã eu fiquei um tanto desapontado com algumas versões como a do MxPx – e o que esperar deles senão aquela coisa aguada? Os Bouncing Souls no máximo me pareceram esforçados, dá pra sentir que eles são fãs de Cash mas não acho que tenha ficado muito boa a versão. Bom, escutem e vejam o que acham.
